Why we do what we do.

An estimated 121 million people in 156 developing countries are in need of a wheelchair. Less than 10% of these people have access to a wheelchair. Overland One's three pillars help address this worldwide issue, one chair at a time.

Mobility

  • Our recipient's lives are immediately changed with the delivery of their new wheelchair. They no longer have to crawl along dirt floors, be carried by their mother, or remain in bed. They are now able to leave their home to interact with their neighbors and friends and attend school.
  • Donors and volunteers are able to provide a necessity to individuals in need in the furthest corners of the globe. It's a simple but powerful reminder that we are all one people and can each make a difference.

opportunity

  • Wheelchair recipients gain opportunities to connect with the world around them. They are able to leave their homes, many for the first time without being carried. Receiving an education or working becomes possible.
  • Donor and volunteer opportunities are abundant. Our most vital need is for donations to fund the construction of wheelchairs being built in country. Volunteers are needed to help us find partners and new location contacts.

peace of mind

  • Increased mobility gives peace of mind to our recipients and their families. A wheelchair provides relief to mothers who are doing the best they can to care for their children in difficult circumstances. Families feel a new hope for the future and an increase in self-reliance when they receive a wheelchair.
  • Donors and volunteers have confidence in their contributions knowing that every dollar is spent in these humble countries to construct  wheelchairs.
